Watching from the Sidelines

By: Amber Goldstedt-Korban

I watched Sabrina Johannes join in with Holiday Minis a few years ago. I liked watching her post pictures of the families after the sessions and thought it was sweet. Then, I noticed how much the event meant to her volunteers that would come back each year for the event. The volunteers became a part of these family’s deployment story. By that, I mean these pictures would capture a moment in the family’s life when a mother or father was deployed. A moment when families got to come together and meet others at the event that had deployed love ones.

Some of the volunteers understand what it is like to have a loved one deployed. They want to help create an event that military families can look forward to each year.

That is why I wanted to join the Board of Deployed Love. To give what I can to these military families. You will see me volunteering at the Fort Carson Holiday Minis in a few weeks!
