So you have orders to Fort Huachuca in Arizona? You are headed for that small town feel with big community!! The Fort was the home of the 10th Cavalry "Buffalo Soldiers" for 20 years and was replaced by the 25th Infantry Regiment in 1933. Presently, Fort Huachuca houses the U.S. Army Intelligence Center, and the U.S. Army's Network Enterprise Technology Command. This tiny installation in the Huachuca Mountains just 15 miles north of the Mexico Border is full of history and surprises. Dust off your cowboy boots and get ready for your adventure into the Wild Wild West.

Where to Live: This base is pretty secluded in that there isn't a lot of options to choose from nearby.
Sierra Vista, AZ: The only town directly near base this is your number one option nearby. There is a wide variety of houses all over town. As a huge retirement community this town is really genuinely quiet and safe!!
Huachuca City, AZ: Just up the road is Huachuca City, this is an even smaller town, but more likely to find houses with more property if that is something you are looking for.
Bisbee, AZ: If mountain town, with a more rustic mining feel is your vibe and you don't mind a 40 minute drive to work, you may enjoy this location. The housing in this area is however smaller and older.
Tucson, AZ: The largest city nearby is an option if you need variety of jobs, or schools. However, this would be a full hour drive daily.
On post is also a fantastic option for convenience and amenities!

Fort Huachuca can feel really isolating if you don't get out and explore. It is really small town, but this allows for a really big community. Most people around will be more than happy to help you find anything you need while you live there. Although it is desert climate and hot in the summer, you can do so much fun exploring just a quick drive away!! We were constantly out doing things near by and loved all the day trips we went on!!
